The venues we know inside out
We've produced weddings in colonial houses with no kitchen, beach clubs with no electricity after sunset, and islands where everything arrives by boat. Here's which venue fits your format, how many guests actually fit, and what menu we recommend at each — from the Walled City to Islas del Rosario.
Colonial houses in the Walled City
Restored 16th-18th century houses in the heart of the walled center. Interior courtyards, narrow staircases, restricted vehicle access. Cartagena's most romantic venue — and the most logistically demanding.
Casa Pombo
private wedding, no in-house catering, 80-120 guests
Casa Bustamante
main courtyard with gallery, 60-100 guests
Casa San Agustín
boutique hotel, rooftop and courtyard events
Hotel Charleston Santa Teresa
exclusive in-house catering (we handle associated events)
Sofitel Legend Santa Clara
exclusive in-house catering (we handle associated events)
Capacity
60-150 guests
Kitchen access
Tiny or nonexistent kitchens. Production in central kitchen, transported. Plating in field kitchen set up in service area.
Menu we recommend
Plated 3-4 course menu. Preparations that finish cold or tolerate a small field kitchen. Contemporary Caribbean cuisine: local fish, pickles, roasted vegetables. Avoid large station formats.
Beach clubs and islands
Beachfront weddings on Tierra Bomba, Barú, and Islas del Rosario. Everything arrives by boat. Heat, wind, and humidity define the menu. The photos sell themselves — the logistics don't.
Palmarito Beach Club
Tierra Bomba, private beach, full-day events
Cartagena Island Bliss
Islas del Rosario, sunset + beach packages
Bora Bora Beach Club
Tierra Bomba, cocktail + dinner
Blue Apple Beach
Tierra Bomba, intimate + mid-size events
Capacity
40-200 guests
Kitchen access
No professional kitchen. Full field kitchen by boat. Generators. Redundant cold chain. Everything doubled: ice, water, boats.
Menu we recommend
Ceviche bars, live seafood grill, cold cocktails with local fruits, tropical fruits, sorbets. Avoid creams, mayo, and meringue desserts. The multi-day format fits perfectly here: welcome dinner + wedding day + beach day.
Caribbean estates and haciendas
Spacious grounds 30-60 minutes from Cartagena. Mature gardens, productions with no time restrictions, capacity for multiple satellite kitchens. Where large weddings breathe.
Hacienda La Armenia
the most recognized, tropical gardens, large capacity
Turbaco-area estates
rural options with Cartagena access
Atlántico private estates
for weddings combining Barranquilla + Cartagena
Capacity
150-400+ guests
Kitchen access
Flexible kitchens, space for full production setup. Vehicle access. Standard refrigeration.
Menu we recommend
Live stations: seafood grill, ceviche bar, creole roast, fresh pasta. Long cocktail hour with hot hors d'oeuvres. Large dessert table. Shared table format with communal platters.
